About Sian

Sian Allan is the leader of the Otter Party and the Minister of Health. Born in Wellington, she then moved to Auckland at a young age. She went to Westlake Girls High School before attending the University of Auckland to study a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Global Studies conjoint. Her background in these topics gives her a strong foundation for addressing the numerous issues facing New Zealand. With the Otter Party’s major focuses being social and environmental factors, her Global Studies degree supports this. Her degree in Commerce means that economic aspects will also be taken into consideration. She has strong leadership skills and her objective nature allows her to see multiple perspectives and determine the best outcome for the greatest amount of people. As the Minister of Health, her primary concerns are ensuring that there is improved treatment of healthcare workers, and that healthcare is made more affordable and accessible, particularly in relation to mental health services.
